The Kandiyohi County Area Family YMCA offers membership in the following categories:

The $30 fee is paid upon membership sign-up and will be charged only once per continuous membership. Those qualifying for a corporate membership (5 or more individuals from the same company) or an insurance company reimbursement program do not pay the joining fee.

Should you choose to end your Y experience, please fill out a termination form prior to the 20th of the month. Failure to do so will result in membership charges for the next month. The $30 joining fee must be paid upon membership reactivation
Guests are always welcome at the YMCA! All guests must present a photo I.D. and register at the front desk. Guests under the age of 15 must be signed in by an adult. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times or enrolled in a YMCA program. The only exception is that children aged 7 – 9 may be in the pool area when a parent is in the facility.
The Kandiyohi County Area Family YMCA participates in the AWAY program, which means we welcome members of other Y's to visit us free of charge up to 12 times in a calendar year. After 12 visits AWAY members are welcome to use the Y by paying the daily guest pass fee.

The Y is a cause for strengthening community. That's why we're here working with you every day, making sure that you, your family and community have the resources and support your need to learn, grow and thrive. Financial assistance is offered to individuals and families who may not otherwise be able to afford a Y experience.
The YMCA does not turn anyone away due to the inability to pay. Financial aid is available for membership and programs to those who qualify. Applications are available at the Front Desk or may be downloaded
ATTENTION ALL FITNESS REBURSEMENT PARTICIPANTS!
Effective January 2017, There have been some changes in the way the reimbursement program is managed and you will be required to take action by January 31 to avoid interruption to your reimbursement. Please click on this link for information and directions to continue receiving your reimbursement payments. The changes will give you the consumer the ability to monitor and manage your account by viewing your total visits, when your reimbursement is due, allowing you to make changes to your information as well as other added member benefits.

YMCA members enrolled in ELIGIBLE insurance plans with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota and/or North Dakota, Health Partners, Medica, Preferred One, or Healthways can receive a reimbursement by working out a set number of days each month. That's more money in your pocket for staying healthy!

The SilverSneakers® and Silver & Fit® Fitness Programs are innovative health, exercise and wellness programs helping older adults live healthy, active lifestyles.
The YMCA is a participating SilverSneakers® and Silver & Fit® fitness facility. Individuals with ELIGIBLE medical insurance can enroll in a free Silver Sneaker or Silver & Fit membership which includes full use of the YMCA and participation in group exercise classes. Bring your Silver Sneakers/Silver & Fit ID to the YMCA to sign up.
This feature allows members and program participants who are in our computer system the ability to edit their profile, change passwords, manage billing and payment options, make and schedule payments and view (print) their payment history.
Child Watch is available for parents with children 3 months to 9 years of age. A parent must remain in the facility at all times. It’s a great opportunity to take a class, swim or walk with a friend while our experienced caregivers take care of your children. There is an hourly fee of $2.00 per child.
To check a child into Child Watch, you must have a Child Watch card which you can purchase at the front desk. Cards may be purchased in the $4.50 to $120 range. Parents check in their children with the staff, remove their shoes/boots and any jackets or sweatshirts. Shoes and coats are stored in the cubbies in Child Watch. Only the parent checking in the child will be allowed to check the child out, unless it is specified otherwise. There is a 3 hour limit that a child can be in Child Watch.
Children are given a snack at two designated times throughout each shift. Animal crackers are served, unless there is a child who is allergic to peanuts, the staff will then serve gold fish. Water is served with the snack. Parents may bring sipper cups with beverages for their children if they desire, but outside food is not allowed.
Child Watch staff are not licensed to change diapers. If a child is in need of a diaper change, the staff will locate the parent and have them change the diaper. There is a changing table in the bathroom of Child Watch.
Fitness By Design provides an overview of all the fitness equipment in the Wellness Center. It is free for members and takes about 30-60 minutes. All junior high youth who want to use the Wellness Center must complete this orientation. Sign up at the Front Desk.
(establishing a pattern of exercise) Fee: $33
The Personal Fitness Program (PFP) is designed for those who are thinking about exercising, preparing to exercise, or are exercising on a sporadic basis. This program is a 6 week program that will assist you in becoming a regular exerciser! Within the 6 weeks, you will meet with a trained staff member 3 times to assist you in establishing your pattern of regular exercise each week, receive encouragement and support for your efforts, and be held accountable for your workouts. Register with Dean in the Wellness Center.
Personal Trainers work with people of all ages, help you stay on track, keep you motivated and assist you in achieving your desired goals. Members are able to register for Personal Training for either land or water based exercise. Contact Katie to sign-up or have your questions answered.
Y Staff recommend at least two sessions when you begin Personal Training. Our personal trainers are certified by national accredited organizations.
Join us for a variety of workouts or slip on your swimsuit and try a water fitness class. Classes include Cycling, Zumba, Yoga, Boot Camp, Pilates, Functional Interval Training, Step Aerobics, Stability Ball and many more. The Group Exercise schedule offers 50+ FREE classes each week. No need to pre-register, just arrive a few minutes before class to participate.

Group Exercise classes are free with your membership. Our land classes are offered in the group exercise studio on the second floor and the cycling studio and gym on the first floor. Water classes are held in the aquatic center. Just check the guide on the group exercise schedule to find the class location.
To participate in group exercise classes, be present at the class location 5-10 minutes before class starts, and the instructor will guide you. If you’re new, don’t be afraid to ask questions!
Stop by the front desk with your membership card to check-in each time you visit the Y. Workouts submitted for insurance reimbursement are taken from daily computer scans. If you have a guest with you, they will need to have a photo I.D. and sign in when they visit.
Members must be 10 years old to be left alone at the YMCA. Guests must also be 10 years old but all guests under the age of 15 must be signed-in by an adult 18 years of age or older.
Children may begin using the Wellness Center upon graduation from the 6th grade. All 7th and 8thgrade students must complete our Active Teens Program. Active Teens is a program that orientates our younger members to the wellness center cardio and strength training equipment, to keep them safe during their time in the wellness center. The Active Teens program must be completed prior to independent use of the wellness center.
Children of any age may use the track under direct (arms-length) supervision from a parent or supervising adult. Strollers are permitted on the track and the YMCA has one available to borrow.
Members that have completed 6th grade may participate in group exercise classes. All 7th and 8thgrade students must complete the Active Teens Program before participating in a Group Exercise Class.
Students completing 9th grade can complete the Strong Teens Program to gain independent use of the free weight area. This program is free and will orient students to the weight room by discussing proper form, breathing technique and the proper amount of weight to use.
Children 5 years old and younger must be within arms-reach of a parent or supervising adult in the pool. Adults must be in the water with the child and not on the pool deck.
Children 6 years old must have a parent or supervising adult in the pool area.
When children turn 7, they are allowed to use the pool independent from a parent or supervising adult, as long as they are present in the building. You will always find certified lifeguards on duty, every hour the pool is open.
Children age 10 and above may use the pools without a parent or supervising adult in the facility.
Children 48" and taller may use the slide. There are also appropriate aquatic features for Children under 48".
