Lifeguard

Now accepting applications!  This part-time position operates as part of the Aquatics Department.

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, lifeguards will supervise the aquatic area to prevent accidents, assist swimmers, and keep the area and facilities clean. Lifeguards will create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere to give members a sense of belonging. Lifeguards must be reliable, courteous, and ready to act. Lifeguards must demonstrate the core values of YMCA’s Character Development: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.  Lifeguard certification required, will train successful candidates.  Contact Sarah Ruud for more information.

Swim Lesson Instructor

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, a Swim Lesson Instructor will teach people of all ages using the YMCA of the USA program as laid out in Teaching Swimming Fundamentals, The Parent/Child and Preschool Aquatic Program Manual and The Youth and Adult Aquatic Program Manual.  A Swim Lesson Instructor must be an energetic, dedicated and motivated individual who enjoys swimming and teaching people of all ages.  Instructors must demonstrate and enforce the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility that make up the YMCA's character development program.  Contact Sarah Ruud for more information on applying for this position.

The YMCA Child Care Center is seeking applicants for an Assistant Teacher position in our Infant Classroom. We seek an energetic, hard working individual to fill this position. Applicants must meet the requirements of a teacher qualification according to Minnesota Department of Education Rule 3. The applicant hired for this position will work on average 35-37 hours weekly. Day Camp Counselor

Under the supervision of the Program Director this person will be part of a team which is responsible for assisting in the planning and daily operation of the Summer Day Camp.  This position requires the ability to work with a wide variety of families, youth, volunteers and YMCA staff.  This person must possess a general knowledge of child development and a willingness to be an active participant in all Day Camp activities and other related duties.  Musical and/or drama skills desired but not necessary.  A sensitive and caring attitude is needed as this position deals with children during their formative years.  All applicants must be at least 17 years of age to apply. Teamwork and communication is essential for working with a number of co-workers and a wide variety of children and adults.  CPR and First Aid training are required and will be provided. Literacy Tutor MN Reading Corps

Would you love to help children grow their reading skills and succeed in school? If your answer is yes, serve as a tutor with Minnesota Reading Corps at YMCA Pre School. Whether you want to explore a career in education, re-enter the workforce, or give back to your community, you can be a child’s hero as a tutor. Last year, Minnesota Reading Corps provided direct services to more than 30,000 children in more than 700 sites across the state.

As a Literacy Tutor, you’ll use research-proven strategies to help elementary students gain the reading skills they need to thrive in school and in life. There are openings for part-time tutors, and tutors serve most of their hours during the school day. Tutors come from many backgrounds and include recent high school and college grads, career changers, stay-at-home parents, and retirees. With extensive training, support from onsite coaches, and evidence-based strategies, Reading Corps tutors are well-equipped to change lives. Tutors may earn a living allowance, education award, and federal student loan forbearance, and will have the chance to make a real difference in the life of a child.
