Each day is a new adventure as campers arrive at the Y. Most days we travel by bus for adventures including Sibley State Park, the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center, city and county parks, historical landmarks, museums and other local attractions. Weekly activities vary and include special trips, presenters, games, rock climbing, environmental education, arts and crafts, swimming and an array of learning projects.
CITs will gain the skills to become a better leader or a future camp counselor. CITs act as assistants to our Day Camp staff and gain experience leading small groups in games, skits and songs. CITs work under the supervision of Y staff and are required to model positive behaviors for young campers.
Fun with a splash of confidence! Join us for a weekly swim lesson. Fits great into your child’s day camp schedule or for those wanting a weekly option. Currently we will only offer school age and space is limited.
The Spirit of the Northwoods is the essence of Camp Olson YMCA. The Spirit is alive, not only in the activities, songs, and laughter that fill our days; but in the peaceful reverie of campers who, for the first time, behold the Milky Way splashed across the night sky. It is the community of youth, families, and leaders from across the globe that grows each summer and comes together to share in fun, fellowship, adventure, and spiritual growth. It is the respect and reverence for the environment that is instilled in all who experience Camp Olson YMCA through instruction and a direct experience with nature.
