We are looking for individuals who are responsible, courteous, and have a passion for water safety! 

Lifeguards provide direct supervision of the pool and provide a safe, enjoyable experience for all swimmers. Rules will be enforced in a polite, fair, and consistent manner, focusing on safety and YMCA's core values.

Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification is required. Have no previous lifeguard experience? No problem! Lifeguard certification is available at the Y.

Youth Sports Referee

The Youth Sports Referee will officiate at sporting events, games, or competitions to maintain standards of play and ensure that game rules are observed. Referees judge performance in sporting competitions in order to award points, impose scoring penalties, and determine results. This position will work 2-4 games a week, possibly weeknights or Saturday mornings.

Gymnastics Coach

The Y is seeking dependable and enthusiastic coaches to teach basic tumbling/gymnastics to boys and girls ages 3-11 years. We need people who can communicate well with and motivate children. Coaches must be able to lift children and move mats. This position is part-time with evening hours and we can work around your school/college schedule. Sports Program Coordinator - Olivia

The YMCA is seeking 2 part-time Program Coordinators.

  • Willmar: 20 hours per week 
  • Olivia: 10 hours per week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include coordinating existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

  2. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.

  3. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.

  4. Manages the programs, including working with supervisor to monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities, or events.

  3. Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
  4. Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers and members and helps members connect with one another and the Y.
  5. Serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting members, and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.
  6. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.

1. Design safe and effective personal training programs for individual clients, adapting the strength training program to each person’s specific needs and abilities.

2. Instruct members in the strength training principles, training procedures, and exercise techniques.

3. Teach members the proper and preferred use of all the strength training equipment.

4. Inform members of new information regarding strength training safety and effectiveness.

5. Provide individual supervision and reinforcement during members’ training sessions.
